87% water not fit to drink

A survey done by Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources has 'discovered' that most of the water used by Pakistanis is not fit for human consumption. Out of 357 samples of 'drinking' water tested under a national quality monitoring program, 87% samples were found to be unsafe for human consumption. The samples had many kinds of contaminants, often more than one. These were: 68% had bacteriological, 24% arsenic, 13% nitrate and 5% fluoride contaminations which made these samples unsafe for drinking. full story


'HMC: rehab, no privatization
